Architect specifies Origin Bi-folding Door for Local Primary School
Why Origin?
After sharing a space with PE teachers and lots of sporting activities, the music department of St John’s primary school in Lacey Green, Buckinghamshire, were looking to create a special space where creativity and musical expression could be encouraged to grow. With a fairly open brief, architect Clementine Blakemore got to work…
Product choice
The first phase was a pavilion structured timber framed building featuring high ceilings, which created a very open space, which they wished to extend – and what better way to do this than with an Origin Bi-fold Door? A black-grey colour was chosen for the bi-folds, to contrast with the timber frame, and the size of the doors allowed light to flood in, even when closed, with the option to open up the whole space and allow the music to flow out.
Aluminium was very important for the school setting, as while the bi-folds may be large in stature, they are very light and easy to use, smooth, robust and low maintenance – ideal for a school. Finger safe gaskets also gave the school peace of mind that little fingers wouldn’t get hurt while using the doors.
Benefits of Origin
“It’s been absolutely fantastic working with Origin. It’s been amazing. I had a lot of questions to ask and everyone has been incredibly accommodating – fantastic technical team and fantastic CAD drawings which were really easy to download from the website. I think one of the really gratifying aspects of being an architect is people using the space in a way that you hadn’t imagined.”
