When installing front doors in a large scale property development project, the security of the property should always be a high priority. At Origin, we use a vast range of innovative security features and hardware to prevent intruders from breaking into the front doors. This should provide you with peace of mind that the doors you are using for your development are safe and secure.

Secured by Design

Origin Front Doors can be specified to be Secured by Design compliant. Secured by Design was established in 1989 as an initiative to ‘design out crime’ through physical security and manufacturer processes which have been reviewed by the police. This includes locking mechanisms, so if you are looking for confirmation for your customers that their new doors will be fully secured, check that your supplier meets the Secured by Design standards.

Strong and secure handles

Ensuring the door handle is strong with a solid-cast body, a cylinder guard, and backplate can strengthen overall door security.

strengthen overall door security. At Origin, handle options include our bar handle range, a finger pull escutcheon, an offset lever handle range or our premium stainless steel handle range. The bar handles are available in three styles - straight, offset and bow. The straight and offset handles come in 3 sizes: 500mm, 1200mm and 1800mm. The bow bar handle comes in two sizes: 550mm and 720mm, and all come in a brushed stainless-steel finish.

The pull handles are available with automatic locking only. When using an offset or handle from our Premium range, this is available with an 8-point locking system. The offset lever handle is available in black, white, chrome or stainless steel. Premium handles are available in 5 different styles. These can be in a stainless steel finish or can be colour coded.

When choosing a handle colour, consider the style and colour of the door to ensure it matches the aesthetic of the property development.

Glazing

The glazing you provide for your customer’s external doors can have an impact on the overall security. Whilst double glazing can be hard for intruders to break, triple glazing is even more secure, as well as offering superior thermal efficiency.

Multi-point locking

Origin Front Doors are fitted with a multi-point locking system and a 3 Star Diamond cylinder as standard (if an offset or premium handle is selected). This cylinder protects against snapping, picking, drilling and bumping. The multi-point 8-point lock was developed in-house by Origin and offers 8-points of locking. It conforms to all of the latest security standards including Document Q compliance, PAS 24:2016 and Secured by Design. If your customer wants a bar handle, this will be supplied with the 5-point automatic locking system. This allows the user to simply shut the door and turn the key without the need to lift the handle first.

Work with a supplier that uses high-quality materials

Whether you opt for aluminium, wood or UPVC patio doors, it's vital that the door is manufactured with high-quality materials so that the doors offer excellent durability and meet relevant building regulations. Using high-quality materials is especially important if you're doing a luxury property development that demands a high-end finish.

Choose a company that offers lengthy guarantees for its commercial door products, and is accredited by reputable industry bodies and relevant trade associations.

As well as ensuring quality materials, check with regards to aspects such as thermal properties and the energy efficiency of the doors, the quality of glass and how robust the hardware is, to ensure the doors offer good levels of security and longevity, and of course, meet building regulation requirements.

It’s worth keeping in mind that choosing a supplier that offers the cheapest prices might not guarantee the use of quality materials. So, although price is an important factor to consider when choosing a door supplier, don't allow it to compromise on any quality considerations.

Why use aluminium doors for a project development?

One of the many key benefits of using aluminium front doors is that they provide a variety of different design and colour options, whilst offering excellent strength and durability. High-quality aluminium is an incredibly strong yet lightweight material that, unlike timber, is resilient to twisting, warping or rotting – no matter what the British weather throws at it. Additionally, if you choose a powder coated aluminium front door from Origin, you can be sure that the colour won’t fade or change over time. Aluminium front doors can also be extremely thermally efficient.

Bespoke aluminium commercial doors come with a wide selection of locking mechanisms and handles, so your door has all the security provisions you need.

Based in the UK, Origin provides a wide range of commercial window and door options of different types, colours and sizes. Whether you need bi-fold doors, French doors, or sliding patio door options, you can expect superior quality products made from robust materials for optimised longevity.

Thanks to all products being made in Britain, property developers needing patio doors can benefit from convenient lead times too, with products manufactured and delivered in as little as 24 hours. This is ideal if you want to ensure your projects run on time.

Boasting a wealth of accreditations, Origin also ranks highly for its green credentials, appealing to those who prefer to work with a company that puts the environment at the top of the agenda.
