Considering what type of door you need for your project development
It is important to put thought into the ideal style and configuration options for your door. Consider firstly whether the door supplier and installer can offer the right type of door for your project. Some types of doors supplied by Origin include:
Patio doors
Popular patio door options include sliding doors, bi-fold doors and French doors. The best option for your development depends on the style of the property, and the level of security you need for the property.
Sliding doors take up less space than other types of aluminium patio doors (as they don’t have to open in or out), so they're a good option if you're working with limited space. They also offer very slim sightline options – for example, the Origin Artisan Slider OS-20 comes with sightlines of just 20mm. Additionally, sliding doors can be easy to install.

Bi-fold doors offer slightly more configuration options than sliding doors, however have slightly larger sightlines. Like sliding doors, they also provide a modern, sleek appearance for a property, which is ideal if you are working on a more modern property development.

French doors are a slightly more traditional, classic option when it comes to patio doors for a property development. Like bi-fold and sliding doors, they also offer a large range of colour options and bespoke size options to choose from – so you are guaranteed to find the right choice for your development.
Choosing front doors
When selecting a front door for a property development, you can either choose a Single Front Door, or French Door option. The right choice will depend on the opening size and the overall aesthetic of the property. The doors can also be used in a garage space if required, and the Origin Garage Door is available in the same panel options as the Origin Front Door, helping to bring a property’s style together.
Origin Front Doors can also open inwards or outwards. This allows you to select the best option for the space you have available.

High-security doors
What should you look for when finding a supplier and installer for high-security doors?
When finding a door installation service – it is important to ensure they offer reliable door security accessories and options. This is particularly important if you are working on a commercial property that requires strict security measures. Look for a supplier who offers the following features when finding a high-security door installation service:
Secured by Design
Origin doors can be specified to be Secured by Design compliant. Secured by Design was established in 1989 as an initiative to ‘design out crime’ through physical security and manufacturer processes which have been reviewed by the police.
Strong and secure handles
Ensuring the door handle is strong with a solid-cast body, a cylinder guard, and backplate can strengthen overall door security.
At Origin, handle options include our bar handle range, a finger pull escutcheon, an offset lever handle range or our premium stainless steel handle range. The bar handles are available in three styles - straight, offset and bow. The straight and offset handles come in 3 sizes: 500mm, 1200mm and 1800mm. The bow bar handle comes in two sizes: 550mm and 720mm, and all come in a brushed stainless-steel finish.
The pull handles are available with automatic locking only. When using an offset or handle from our Premium range, this is available with an 8-point locking system.

Triple glazing
Whilst double glazing can be hard for intruders to break, triple glazing is even more secure, as well as offering superior thermal efficiency.
Multi-point locking
Origin Front Doors are fitted with a multi-point locking system and a 3 Star Diamond cylinder as standard (if an offset or premium handle is selected). This cylinder protects against snapping, picking, drilling and bumping. The multi-point 8-point lock was developed in-house by Origin and offers 8-points of locking. It conforms to all of the latest security standards including Document Q compliance, PAS 24:2016 and Secured by Design.

Choosing a colour option for your door
The colour option you choose for a door should depend on the style and aesthetic of the property, and the colours of other doors inside or outside of the property. Perhaps you want to match the front door with the patio door colour, for example.
Popular options such as black and white are classic, flexible options that can be suitable for a range of properties. At Origin, a lot of our products are available in 24 hours when ordered in our most popular colours.

Work with a supplier that uses high-quality materials

Using high-quality materials is especially important if you're doing a luxury property development that demands a high-end finish.
